OCAP - where second chances happen

"You can't change an animal's past, but you could rewrite its future."  ~ Unknown
Surrendering your pet can be one of the most difficult decisions to make.  When you made your pet a part of your family, you took on the responsibility for that pet's whole life.  Your pet relies on you and needs you. Ownership of your pet should be included in the decisions you make about your life.

Many times, it is in the best interest of your pet to surrender.  It is the selfless thing to do for your pet.  Whatever the reason, OCAP can help.

When bringing your pet(s) to your surrender appointment, please BE HONEST with us - give us every detail about your pet's behavioral and medical history.  As many details about your pet's past experiences with other animals, with people, their favorite toy, fears, likes, and dislikes.  Maybe your dog or cat has had a bad experience in the past with men, women, or children.  We need to know these things in order to help your pet get their second chance at their forever home.  Please feel free to bring their favorite toys or bed.  Favorite items will help ease your pet's transition and anxiety.

During your appointment, OCAP Coordinators will meet with you and try and make your surrendering experience as easy as possible.  We will ask a lot of questions that benefit your pet(s), so please plan on spending a minimum of 30 minutes with us.  You will be offered a tour of our building and grounds and given some private time to say good-bye.

We ask for a $35 surrender fee per animal to help offset the care they require.  If this fee does not fit into your budget, please let us know and we will help.
