Pictured to the right are Newfoundland pups, Karma and Cocoa, with their owner, Kari.  This picture was taken during their  January 2017 visit to Ontonagon to thank our community.  
Previously, Karma and Cocoa were visiting Ontonagon and went missing on November 23, 2016.  Kari and friends, along with Ontonagon good Samaritans, didn't give up hope.  After many miles of hiking through cold winds and snow and learning how to use snowshoes, Cocoa was found on December 20, 2016 and Karma was found on December 22, 2016.  Kari never gave up hope.

​It is OCAP’s policy to:
  • Follow MI Dept. of Agriculture's holding times for stray cats and dogs without identification, which is four days.  After four days, per MDA regulations, the owner loses all rights of ownership and the cat or dog becomes the property of OCAP.
  • Follow MI Dept. of Agriculture's holding times for stray cats and dogs with identification, which is seven days.  After seven days, per MDA regulations, the owner loses all rights of ownership and the cat or dog becomes the property of OCAP.
  • Attempt, to the best of our ability, find the owner of a stray cat or dog by advertising on our Facebook page and Facebook 'Sale' pages in our area.
  • Spay or neuter any unaltered stray cat as a condition of it being released to its owner.
  • Obtain veterinarian care of any stray cat or dog that is sick or injured.
  • Charge the animal owner $25 to reclaim their cat or dog, plus any vet fees incurred.
